Does IBCT provide BCP Consulting Services?
Yes, all of our instructors are highly experienced business continuity consultants. IBCT will organize and coordinat all your BCP consulting requirements, drawing from our pool of experienced consultants, to ensure that you receive the best possible quality of service .
Are On-site, In-House courses less expensive?
Yes, courses at a client's place of work are normally at least 50% less expensive than public courses, depending on the length of course, degree of customization and number of participants. In-house, on-site courses usually require a minimum of five participants, and the client is responsible for the training venue and A/V.
Can courses be customized to a specific firm or industry?
Yes, there are basically three different approaches for course customization:
1. cosmetic changes - if a client wants to change the "look" of the course or the wording in any section, or add/delete some content, there is normally no additional charge.
2. material changes - if a client requests significant changes or additions to the material, such as development of client-specific or industry-specific case studies, training in specific BCP software tools, training in the client's existing BCP methodologies, etc., the cost would depend on the extent of the changes required.
3. custom-built course - if a client provides us with detailed specifications for a custom-built course, we would analyze the requirements and provide a quotation for course development, along with a quotation for course delivery. This would typically be the most expensive option, however it would ensure that the client gets exactly the training they require. It can be very cost-effective when a client needs to train large numbers of people within the organization.
Do you provide hardcopy or softcopy training materials?
Depending on your needs, participants can receive print and software working tools and templates for a variety of activities, such as conducting a Business Impact Analysis. These are often computer files (Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, PowerPoint files). In addition, you may receive a complete Business Continuity Plan which can be used as a template for your own organization (plus the templates used to develop that Plan).
I want to obtain professional certification as a Business Continuity Planner. Will your courses help me prepare for this?
Yes. In particular, our courses can help you obtain the Certified Continuity Manager designation offered by the National Institute for Business Continuity Management (www.NIBCM.com).
IBCT courses are quite different from those offered by the "certification" organizations. The main focus for IBCT courses is to provide methodologies - the "how to" - for designing, implementing, and maintaining effective continuity plans. While they do cover the "10 Professional Practices for Business Continuity Planners", our courses teach you "how to do" the job of a business continuity planner. They provide practical, results-oriented tools and techniques which can be immediately applied on your return to your organization.
I'm new to this field. Will your course help me?
Yes, our Workshops are designed specifically for NEW and EXPERIENCED business continuity planners, executives, managers and supervisors responsible for the operational and strategic activities of private and public sector organizations.
They are also highly useful for consultants, internal and external auditors, records managers, information technology managers, administrative heads, and others responsible for the effective administration of any size of organization.
Do your instructors have practical industry experience in addition to a BCP background?
Yes, all courses are taught by professional instructors with extensive Business Continuity AND industry experience. All of our instructors hold professional designations in Business Continuity and related fields.
On-site Training - Who Will Benefit?
Business Continuity training is critical to your firm's survival, so which approach gives you the best value for your training budget:
- send two people off to a conference for a week, hoping they pick up something that might be useful for the firm? or,
- bring in two BCP trainers on-site for that week to work with a full cross-section of your management team so your firm acquires the tools needed to create and manage your own Business Continuity Plan?
The advantages of on-site training are many:
- you set the schedule; you receive the training when you want to, not simply when it is available;
- you receive training that is relevant, not generic; our courses are customized to your industry and to your firm;
- you receive far greater value for your training dollars.

We convey key knowledge in plain English - that you can't get reading trade magazines or talking to vendors.
- Savings.
IBCT's on-site training costs less per person than public courses. By training your team at your facility, you will save on travel, lodging, meals, and other miscellaneous costs. It is estimated that you can save your organization up to 50% by hosting an in-house course versus sending your employees to public courses.
- Teamwork.
Entire teams and departments can be trained together. This confidential atmosphere gives your employees the freedom to discuss problems, products, and situations they might not feel comfortable discussing in front of strangers. We help put in place a solid, valuable and long-lasting understanding of Business Continuity Planning throughout your organization. It is our goal to bust the buzzwords, demystify the jargon, and cut through the double-talk to present a clear, cohesive picture and structured understanding... and provide your firm with the tools you need to create, test and maintain your own Effective Continuity Plan yourself. |
